a city and administrative center of Sychevka Raion, Smolensk Oblast, RSFSR. Sychevka has a railroad station on the Rzhev-Viaz’ma line and is located 251 km northeast of Smolensk. The city has a meat-packing combine, a flax-processing plant, a milk plant, and a plant producing electrodes. There is also a veterinary technicum and a museum of local lore.
