A large family of polychaete annelids belonging to the Errantia; identified by their long, linear, translucent bodies with articulated cirri; size ranges from minute Exogone to Trypanosyllis, which may be 4 inches (100 millimeters) long.

La unica familia reportada que posee un proventriculo viene siendo Syllidae, ademas de tener cirros articulados por todo el cuerpo la hace muy distintiva, los resultados obtenidos para la misma son tres especies, Tripanosyllis intermedia, Autolytus sp y Brania sp, todas con un organismo representativo cada una.
