Sylvaner

a cold-resistant, early or intermediate ripening variety of Austrian grape. The grapes are round and light green and have a juicy pulp. Sylvaner grapes are used in the production of table wines (for example, sylvaner wine), cognacs, and champagnes. In the USSR the grapes are grown in the Northern Caucasus, especially near Stavropol’, and in the Ukraine and Moldavia in fields alongside other varieties. Abroad they are grown in Austria and the Federal Republic of Germany.
