Syracuse University,

main campus at Syracuse, N.Y.; coeducational; chartered 1870, opened 1871. Syracuse is noted for its research programs in government and industry; facilities include the Center for Science and Technology, the Newhouse Communications Center, and the CASE Center for advanced computer applications. The university library houses fine collections in Russian history, literature, and European history. The university sponsors a joint program with the State Univ. of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry. There is also a campus at Utica.
