Tafilalet
the largest Saharan oasis of Morocco, in Ksar es Souk Province. Population, about 60,000, mostly Berbers. Tafilalet is situated southeast of the Grand Atlas Mountains, in a basin irrigated by the Oued Ziz and Oued Gheris. Its center is Erfoud. Dates, grains, and vegetables are grown in the area. Local industries produce metal and leather goods and handwoven rugs. Arab nomads raise camels, goats, and sheep.
