Tandil(tändēl`), city (1991 pop. 90,427), Buenos Aires prov., E Argentina. Founded in 1823 as Fuerte Independencia, it was a military outpost against Native Anmericans. Tandil is today an attractive resort city.

a city in southeastern Argentina, in Buenos Aires Province. Population, 45,700 (1960). Tandil is the center of an agricultural region where livestock is raised primarily for meat. Agricultural products are processed. Tandil has a university (1964).
