Tanjug

 

(Telegrafska Agencija Nova Jugoslavia), the information agency of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. It was founded in 1943 in the city of Jajce on territory freed from fascist occupation by the People’s Liberation Army of Yugoslavia and the partisans. Since 1944 it has been located in Belgrade. It provides information relating to domestic and foreign policy to newspapers and radio and television stations. It has 90 branches in Yugoslavia, as well as 26 abroad and its own photography service. It releases a special bulletin and a monthly newspaper, Yugoslavian News, in Russian, English, French, and Spanish.
