Tarji-Band

a stanzaic form used in the lyric or panegyric poetry of the Near and Middle East and of Middle and South Asia. In the tarji-band, each stanza, consisting of a certain number of bayts (couplets), is constructed according to the rhyme scheme of the ghazal (aa, ba, ca, da, ...), but ends in a connecting bayt (bayti wasila) or in a tarji-band with its own paired rhyme. This bayt is repeated at the end of each stanza and must be related in meaning to the stanza.
