Tarkhun

 

king of Sogdiana. Ruled from A.D. 700 (?) to 711.

In 707, Tarkhun, together with the Bukharans and the Turgesi, fought the Arabs in Middle Asia. In 709–10 he concluded a treaty with the Arabs and paid them tribute. As a result he was overthrown by the Sogdian aristocracy and lost his life.
