Tectonic Protrusions

 

regions of elongated elevations of the earth’s crust, often expressed in relief. Tectonic protrusions are characterized by a shallow overlay or outcrop of old rocks (including Precambrian). Classified as tectonic protrusions are shields, anticlines, horsts on platforms, geoanticlines, and central massifs in geosynclinal zones. [5_1640-2]
