Thermogenic Bacteria

 

bacteria that emit a substantial quantity of heat in the process of growth. Thermogenic bacteria include thermophiles, those capable of growing at high temperatures. The bacteria reproduce in accumulations of organic matter, such as manure, peat, or hay, which may heat up to 70°–80°C, resulting in spontaneous combustion.
