Thunbergia

 

(clock vine), a genus of plants of the family Acanthaceae. The plants have opposite leaves and twining herbaceous or woody stems. The flowers have a brightly colored funnelform corolla. The fruit is a capsule. There are about 200 species, distributed in the tropics of the eastern hemisphere. Several species, including T. alata (black-eyed Susan) and T. affinis, are raised in greenhouses as ornamentals.
