(also Tinnevelly), a city in southeastern India, in the state of Tamil Nadu. Population, 108,500 (1971). Tirunelveli, a transportation junction, has enterprises of the textile, leather, and food-processing industries. Carved objects of stone, ivory, and wood are produced in the city.
