Tîrgu Mureş


a city in central Rumania, on the Mureş River. Administrative center of Mureş District. Population, 112,800 (1974). The city produces machinery—primarily for light industry—and electrical equipment. Tirgu Mureş also has enterprises of the electronics, chemical, and food-processing industries. Leather gloves, furniture, and clothing are also produced locally.
