Special Features:Located in the cliffs and canyons of the Santa Monica Mountains, park includes 36 miles of trails through open grassland, live oaks, and scenic views of the Pacific Ocean. The park is located entirely within the Los Angeles city limits and is considered the world’s largest wildland within the boundaries of a major city.

The Santa Monic Mountains is another location that has dark night skies ideal for witnessing the shower; Topanga State Park and Malibu Creek State Park are also good options.
I go off to do another thing that Topangans do, heading from the heart of town to the community's heart: the roughly 14,000 acres of wilderness protected as Topanga State Park. I'm bound for its most famous icon, a massive sandstone formation called Eagle Rock, with views of the town, mountains, and ocean a few miles away.
Research has been ongoing for nearly a decade within a study reach that extends from the ocean upstream to the northern boundary of Topanga State Park at river kilometer (rkm) 6, which is just below the village of Topanga.
