Trousdale County Elementary School, Hartsville, Tennessee
Michael Claridy, 16, of Hartsville, a 4-H member of the University of Tennessee Extension Service and a junior at Trousdale County High School, organized a wildlife conservation project that included the building of food plots, birdhouses, duck boxes and picnic areas at locations throughout the county.
The two finalist sites are Hartsville, Trousdale County, TN and Bellafonte, Montgomery County, AL, both properties released to the local economic development authorities by the Tennessee Valley Authority.
The Trousdale County Planning Commission this month voted unanimously to recommend establishing a new zoning category that would accommodate the construction of an enrichment facility, and also voted unanimously to recommend that the approximately 250 acres LES intends to purchase be zoned to that category.
About 250 people attended the public forum held Monday night in the Trousdale County High School gymnasium.
