(TRUSTe, San Francisco, CA, www.truste.org) A non-profit organization founded in 1997 by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) and the CommerceNet Consortium. Standing for True Ultimate Standards Everywhere (TRUSTe), its mission is to promote privacy on the Internet. The TRUSTe seal, known as a "trustmark," signifies that the website will publicly state how all information obtained from you will be disclosed to others, and if there are options you can select.
