Tubing String

Tubing String

a device made up of pipes that is lowered into a borehole for the extraction of liquid and gaseous minerals. Tubing strings consisting of separate tubing joints screwed together are used for the exploitation of petroleum and gas deposits. The tubing string is suspended at the wellhead by means of a casing head. There is usually one tubing string of constant or variable diameter in a well; multiple wells have two or more parallel tubing strings for simultaneous or separate production from two or more pay zones through the same well.

A tubing string consisting of several strings of pipes lowered in concentric rows is used for compressor-lift petroleum production. The length of a tubing string depends on the strength of the piping materials. In deep wells the tubing string may reach depths of 5,000–6,000 m (USA, 1969).

The ESP system was deployed through 4.5 tubing on conventional .125 slickline after installation of the tubing string.
He covers the basics, mode selection, selecting and determining tubing and production casing sizes, completion and perforating fluids, production casing and cementing, perforating, well completion formation damage evaluation, measures for putting a well into production, tubing string, wellhead assembly, and well corrosion and its prevention.
Sino Gas has also now installed a special downhole sliding sleeve device (SSD) and downhole isolation packer enabling the well to be produced from both the tubing string and the annular in order to produce gas from both the lower and upper zone simultaneously.
The separation will occur at the mudline, with liquid pumped via the ESP to the surface in an inner tubing string, while the gas free flows to the surface in the annulus.
In current HP/HT applications, either of these types of packers would be connected to the tubing string by some type of seal assembly sealing in the ID bore of the packer or seal bore located just above the packer.
In preparation for the planned workover and test of the Yellowdrum section in the Blina 4 well, the Jacking Platform has been used to remove the existing tubing string which was completed at the deeper Nullara Formation level.
Increasing the flowing tubing pressure from 50 psi to 100 psi will drop the gas velocity in the tubing string almost in half.
Complete fillup of the cavern was thwarted by a ledge fall and subsequent shearing of the tubing string. The cavern continued to be used for storage and injection/withdrawals until February 1994.
