Tung

 

a river in southern China. Length, 503 km; basin area, 32,300 sq km. It empties below the city of Canton into the estuary of the Hsi River. The Tung, which has its high-water period during the second half of the summer, irrigates large agricultural areas. The river is navigable up to the city of Lungch’uan and is used for fishing.
