In south-central GA, northeast of Albany; organized 1905 from Dooly, Irwin, Wilcox, and Worth counties. Name Origin: For Capt. Henry Gray Turner (1839-1904), officer in the Confederate Army, U.S. representative from GA (1881-97), and associate justice of the GA supreme court (1903)
