Uchaly
a city under republic (ASSR) jurisdiction and the administrative center of Uchaly Raion, Bashkir ASSR. Uchaly is situated on the eastern slopes of the Uraltau Range and is surrounded by lakes. It is located 6 km from the Uchaly railroad station on the Ufa-Cheliabinsk line and 450 km southeast of Ufa. Industry includes a roofing-felt and Ruberoid plant, a butter and cheese factory, a garment factory, and an ore-dressing combine that processes raw materials from local copper and pyrite fields. Uchaly has a music school and a museum of local lore.
