Uchiura

a bay of the Pacific Ocean on the southern side of the Japanese island of Hokkaido. Also known as Volcano Bay, Uchiura Bay is crescent shaped, with mostly low-lying shores. Along the bay lie such volcanoes as Usu and Koma-ga-take. The bay is about 55 km long and—at its entrance—about 30 km wide. It is up to 100 m deep. The large port of Muroran is located at the bay’s entrance.
