(11) In the present study, urethral stricture was defined as a Qmax <10 mL/s on uroflowmetry and the visibility of the stricture site on
urethroscopy or urethrography.
It seems that cure rates are lower for patients who are unable to contract their external sphincter, have a poor response to midperineal pressure test during dynamic
urethroscopy and those with scarred and immobile urethra, i.e.
If the
urethroscopy findings were different than our initial RGU, we changed our initial operative plan.
Using
urethroscopy, urethral stricture was found in nine rabbits 2 weeks after the operation.
(3) MRI is a useful modality for the evaluation of pelvic pathology and has been reported to have a higher sensitivity for the depiction of urethral diverticula than VCUG or
urethroscopy. (3) It allows for detailed evaluation of anatomic relationships between the diverticulum and adjacent structures.
Other Methods Used to Treat Calculi: Medication,
Urethroscopy and Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy
Some authors (6) suggest
urethroscopy if lesions are seen in the distal urethra, although in practice rarely is
urethroscopy done unless recurrent lesions are apparent (personal communication with Alex Ferenczy, MD, Professor of Pathology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Sir Mortimer B.
In his
urethroscopy, anterior urethral stricture 2 cm in length was determined.
Urethroscopy was attempted under general anesthesia that failed due to complete obstruction at 1 cm from the meatus.
Stenosis was conferred as the area of narrowing visible in the urethra or gripping felt during
urethroscopy. A higher value of Qmax from non-intubated uroflowmetry and lower value of PVR were taken for the analysis from 2 consecutive readings.
Prior to sacrifice, animals underwent retrograde urethrograms (RUG) and
urethroscopy. Histologic specimens were examined for presence of buccal mucosal engraftment.
