Phragmipedium

 

a genus of terrestrial perennial herbaceous plants of the family Orchidaceae. The flowers, which resemble those of the lady’s slipper in shape, are gathered into inflorescences. There are about 11 species, distributed in tropical America. The plants are grown in hothouses as ornamentals.
