Uvalde(yo͞ovăl`dē), city (1990 pop. 14,729), seat of Uvalde co., SW Tex., in a farm area; founded c.1854, inc. as a city 1921. It is a rail junction in an agricultural area with cattle, sheep, goats, hogs, vegetables, cotton, and wheat. Wool, mohair, vegetables, and frozen foods are processed.
