VCO

(1) (Voltage Controlled Oscillator) An oscillator that can be tuned over a wide range of frequencies by applying a voltage (tuning voltage) to it. Used in many applications such as radio tuners, VCOs are less costly than crystal oscillators, but not as stable. Contrast with crystal oscillator.

(2) (Voice Carry Over) A telephone that allows deaf people to read incoming messages from a relay service, but lets them use their voice to respond.

For a conventional single LC tank VCO with inductor [L.sub.1] and capacitor [C.sub.1], the oscillation frequency is [f.sub.0] = 1/(2[pi][square root of [L.sub.1][C.sub.1]]).
But what excites researchers about VCO is its lauric-acid content.
In this paper, the phase noise of differential ring oscillators is improved using a new design, making the VCO competent with LC designs.
Therefore, if the temperature variation is monitored and accordingly the control voltage is altered, the temperature variation impact on the time period of a VCO can be mitigated.
