a city in Talsi Raion, Latvian SSR. Located in the northwest of the republic near Lake Sasmak, 28 km north of the Stende railroad station (on the Jelgava-Ventspils line). Population 3,400 (1969). Valdemārpils was founded in the beginning of the 17th century and has been a city since 1920.
