Velikoe

 

an urban-type settlement in Gavrilov-Iam Raion, Yaroslavl Oblast, RSFSR. Located 5 km northwest of the Gavrilov-Iam railroad station. Population, 4,000 (1969). The city has garment and shoe manufacturing industries; there is also a zoological and veterinary technicum.


Velikoe

 

the name of several lakes in the USSR.

(1) A lake in Kalinin Oblast, northeast of the city of Kalinin in the Petrovskie Lakes group, situated in the midst of the Orshinskii mokh peat massif. Area, about 86 sq km; flows into the Volga by way of the Soz’ River.

(2) A lake in Riazan’ Oblast, southeast of the city of Riazan’; part of the Pra River system. Area, about 20.4 sq km.
