Vereia
an urban-type settlement in Orekhovo-Zuevo Raion, Moscow Oblast, RSFSR. Located 8 km southeast of Orekhovo-Zuevo. Population, 7,300 (1969). Peat is extracted here.
Vereia
a city in Moscow Oblast, RSFSR. Situated on the high right bank of the Protva river (a tributary of the Oka), 113 km southwest of Moscow and 27 km south of the Dorokhovo railroad station. Population, 6,500 (1969). There is a clothing factory in the city. Vereia is first mentioned in the chronicle for 1371. In the 14th and 15th centuries it was the capital of the Vereia Principality. Remains of an ancient Kremlin and a 16th-century cathedral have been preserved.
