Vetluga Series

 

(named for the Vetluga River), continental deposits of the lower section of the Triassic System of the East European platform. Superposed with scouring on rocks of the Tatar layer and composed below of conglomerates and higher of brightly colored clays and sandstones. In some places it contains remains of vertebrates—labyrinthodonts and dipnoan fish.
