Vilkaviškis

 

a city and administrative center in the Vilkaviškis Raion, Lithuanian SSR. Located on the Kapsukas-Kaliningrad highway 4 km from the Vilkaviškis railroad station (on the Kaunas-Kaliningrad line). Population, 7,600 (1968). There are metal-products plants, canneries (green peas and fruit and berry preserves), and a garment factory. Vilkaviškis has been known since the 16th century.
