viomycin

(microbiology)
A polypeptide antibiotic or mixture of antibiotic substances produced by strains of Streptomyces griseus var. purpureus (Streptomyces puniceus); the sulfate salt is administered intramuscularly for treatment of tuberculosis resistant to other therapy.
