Vizhnitsa

 

a city (since 1940) and the administrative center of Vizhnitsa Raion, Chernovtsy Oblast, Ukrainian SSR; located where the Vizhenka River empties into the Cheremosh (basin of the Danube). The city has a railroad station. Population, 4,600 (1968). Vizhnitsa has a woodworking combine, a butter factory, craft industries (wood carving, metal inlay, embroidery), and a school of applied art.
