Vysokaia

Vysokaia

 

a mountain in the eastern part of the Central Urals, in Sverdlovsk Oblast. It is 380 m high and is composed of porphyries and syenites. It has a large deposit of magnetic iron ore. The Mount Vysokaia Mine, which has been worked since 1721, is located on the slopes of the mountain. The metal from the ore is smelted in the city of Nizhnii Tagil, which is at the foot of Mount Vysokaia.
