WPAN

(Wireless Personal Area Network) Wireless transmission over a short distance. For example, Bluetooth is widely used to provide wireless connectivity from a cellphone to a headset or vehicle audio system. In the home, WPANs are expected to provide cable-free connections for alarms, appliances and entertainment systems. There are numerous technologies that fall under the WPAN umbrella from the IEEE (see 802.15). See UWB, Bluetooth, wireless LAN, Passive Wi-Fi and personal area network.
