Washburn, William (Drew)

(1831–1912) U.S. representative/senator; born in Livermore, Maine. A Republican lawyer and U.S. surveyor general in Minnesota, he served in the U.S. House of Representatives (1879–85) and in the Senate (1889–95), working to improve the Mississippi River and its tributaries.
