Gippsland

(gĭps`lănd), geographical area, 13,655 sq mi (35,366 sq km), Victoria, SE Australia, E of Melbourne. There are deposits of coal, oil and natural gas (offshore), and limestone. Gold was formerly mined. Dairy and beef cattle are raised, and corn, oats, and sugar beets are grown. The region also supports timber and tourist industries.

Minister for Health David Davis, together with Local Member for Narracan Gary Blackwood today officially opened West Gippsland Health Care Group s revamped emergency department (ED) at Warragul Hospital.
Today s opening is fantastic and the expansion will enable West Gippsland Healthcare Group continue to meet the needs of its community now and into the future, Mr Blackwood said.
