White, William S. (Smith)

(1906–  ) journalist; born in De Leon, Texas. After working for the Associated Press for almost 20 years, he became a Washington reporter for the New York Times (1945–58). His biography of Senator Robert Taft won a 1955 Pulitzer Prize.
