Wightman, Hazel

Wightman, Hazel (Virginia Hotchkiss)

(1886–1974) tennis player; born in Healdsburg, Calif. She won the U.S. women's singles, doubles, and mixed doubles three times each (1909–11), a record shared by only two others. Nicknamed the "Queen Mother of Tennis," she won a total of 45 national championships.
