The Wikimedia Foundation was founded in 2003 by Jimmy Wales. It sponsors several wiki-based (user-generated) websites, including Wikipedia (encyclopedia), Wikidata (structured data), Wikibooks (textbooks), Wikiquote (quotations), Wikivoyage (travel), Wikisource (library), Wikimedia Commons (images), Wikispecies (taxonomies), Wikinews (news) and Wikiversity (courses). On Tuesday, Wkipedia issued the letter to Wiki-PR, demanding that the company immediately halt editing Wikipedia "unless and until it has fully complied with the terms and conditions outlined by the Wikimedia Community.
