Location:In the western Cascade mountains of western Oregon. Accessible by US 20; OR 58, 126, and 22. Nearby cities/towns include Salem, Albany, and Eugene.
Facilities:87 campgrounds, dispersed camping, picnic areas, trails, scenic drives, boat launch, 15 winter sports areas.
Activities:Camping, fishing, boating, swimming, rafting, hiking, mountain biking, cross-country and downhill skiing, snowmobiling, tubing, snowshoeing, dog sledding.
Special Features:Clear Lake, with its submerged forest; McKenzie River, a scenic whitewater river originating in the high Cascade Mountains; McKenzie River Trail, which follows the river for 27 miles; Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail; and Waldo Lake, one of the purest lakes in the world. Seven major volcanic peaks exist within the forest's boundary.
