visual sensor network

A network of wired or wireless video cameras distributed throughout a building or outdoor area that provides a continuous surveillance of the environment. A visual sensor network (VSN) presents a coherent picture of the environment to the user rather than just a collection of individual video clips. Preprocessing often takes place within the "smart" cameras before sending the data to a central computer that performs additional processing. See computer vision.

Because wireless sensor network has energy consumption and technical barriers of bottleneck nodes, large power consumption of nodes, limited communication capacity as well as computing and storage capacity.
Report Title: WTRS Wireless Sensor Network Technology Trends Report 2014
Our research shows that wireless sensor networks are an extremely promising area for home health technology development," Dishman said.
Emerging technologies such as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), ZigBee Green Power, Wi-Fi Direct and EnOcean technologies will enable Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) to drive into new areas of application such as medical devices, healthcare, automotives, energy efficient buildings, sports and agriculture.
Many of the technologies competing for market share in the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) sector are still in a developing state, said Kirsten West, Principal Analyst with WTRS.
This work for researchers, practitioners, and advanced students explains the latest technologies of wireless sensor network and describes applications in areas such as medicine, data gathering, space and planetary exploration, and underground mining.
8220;While there are a fair number of wireless sensor network chips in new meters installed in the field, most are not active and many did not ship with a software stack on board.
4 wireless sensor network (WSN) chipsets into the home are forecast to exceed 242 million a year by 2015, up from just 8.
After an overview of wireless sensor networks, they cover wireless body area networks, wireless sensor networks in emerging communication technologies, and wireless sensor network protocols and algorithms.
com)-- The study, "WTRS Wireless Sensor Network Technology Trends, Q2 2011," analyzes competitive activities by prominent industry alliances and market penetration of associated wireless sensor network protocols.
