Woollard, George P. (Prior)

(1908–79) geophysicist; born in Savannah, Ga. He taught at Princeton (1940–47) before joining the University of Wisconsin (1948–76). He was an authority on gravitational aspects of geology. He also advanced the application of acoustical science to oceanography.
