Location:Far western Garrett County between Friendsville and Oakland.
Activities:Whitewater canoeing, fishing, hunting, hiking.
Special Features:This is the first Maryland river to be classified "wild and scenic." Visitors are cautioned that the river is extremely difficult and potentially dangerous and must be treated with respect. Public access points can be found at Swallow Falls State Park, in the Sang Run area off Sang Run Road, and in Friendsville. For information regarding other points of access, contact Deep Creek Lake State Park.
