Zabelina, Aleksandra Ivanovna

 

Born Mar. 11, 1937, in Moscow. Soviet fencer. Honored Master of Sport since 1960.

Zabelina graduated from the Moscow Institute for History and Archives in 1970. In team competition she was an Olympic champion in 1960 (Rome) and in 1968 (Mexico City). A world champion seven times between 1956 and 1971, she was also a champion of the USSR in team competition 12 times between 1958 and 1970. In individual competition, Zabelina was a world champion in 1957 and 1967, and the champion of the USSR five times from 1957 to 1968.
