Zolochev

 

a city, the administrative center of Zolochev Raion, L’vov Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Zolochev has a railroad station on the L’vov-Ternopol’ line. Population, 15,200 (1970). The city has a brickyard, a sugar refinery, and cheese-making, alcohol, and meat-packing plants, as well as factories producing cardboard articles, clothes, felt, and kitchen furniture. A medical school and agricultural technicum are located near Zolochev in the settlement of Novoselishche.
