Campodeidae

A family of primarily wingless insects in the order Diplura which are most numerous in the Temperate Zone of the Northern Hemisphere.

The five families he recorded were Parajapygidae, Heterojapygidae, Japygidae, Projapygidae and Campodeidae with 2, 3, 14, 1 and 10 species and subspecies respectively.
The Campodeidae and Projapygidae possess long or short, fragile cerci at the tip of the abdomen and are considered herbivores or detritivores but the four other families possess a pair of well chitinised pincer-like claws distally and are predators, that is carnivorous on small arthropods or possibly also detritivores.
