Castlewood State Park
Location:At intersection of Kiefer Creek and Ries roads in Saint Louis County.
Facilities:Picnic sites, 2 picnic shelters, hiking trails, mountain biking trails, equestrian trails.
Activities:River fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding.
Special Features:Park stretches for five miles along both sides of the Meramec River,
with white limestone bluffs towering above the river. The park
incorporates much of an old resort area that existed here between 1915
and 1940, including a grand staircase that once led up to hotels and
clubs.
