Cremona, Luigi

 

Born Dec. 7, 1830, in Pavia; died June 10, 1903, in Rome. Italian mathematician.

In 1873, Cremona was appointed a professor and director of the Engineering School in Rome. His principal studies were devoted to descriptive geometry, graphic statics, and algebraic geometry. He discovered a class of birational transformations called Cremona transformations.
