a city in Western Australia, adjoining the town of Boulder: a centre of the Coolgardie gold rushes of the early 1890s; declining gold resources superseded by the discovery of nickel ore in 1966. Pop.: 28 281 (including Boulder) (2001)

Kalgoorlie

 

a city in the state of Western Australia, Commonwealth of Australia. Population, 21,000 (1971; including the city of Boulder).

Kalgoorlie is a railway junction. Gold is mined there, and there are deposits of nickel ores to the south (Kambalda).
